Camaro ZL1 Nurburgring Time......It's Fast

As is the standard now for manufacturers, GM has taken the upcoming Camaro ZL1 to the Nurburgring where it proved that it is not only massively powerful but it's also massively fast around a track.  GM tweeted that the car ran the lap of the Ring in a very impressive 7:41.27, putting it in a league with such cars as the Audi R8 V10 and Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Very Impressive.

We await some video evidence which I'm sure should be coming soon.

VW Releases Specs On US Golf R....Finally

After a rather lengthy delay, Volkswagen has revealed the specs and pricing on the upcoming 2012 Golf R and there is some good and some bad.

The good is that the pumped up 2.0L turbo 4cyl will put out 256HP/243TQ in the R and be routed through the AWD drivetrain via a real 6 speed manual.  Great news for enthusiasts and those disappointed that the previous R32 was only available with a DSG transmission.  The R will be available in 3 door and 5 door models which is great if you need a little more room for the family.

The bad is that the Golf R will be pricey.  The 3 door models will start at $34,760 and the 5 door will come in starting at $36,860.  That is about $4,000 to $6,000 more than the GTI with the full on Autobahn package.  Also, the R will more than likely weigh around 3400lbs, or about 300 to 400 pounds more than the GTI.  That's the price you pay for the AWD setup.

The Golf R will go on sale in the US in early 2012.
