Viper ACR Nurburgring record run

As you may know by now, a Dodge Viper ACR set a new production car record of 7:12 around the famed Nurburgring.  This eclipsed the previous unofficial record run by a Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition by almost a full two seconds.

In the event you doubted their claim, we now have video proof released by Dodge.

Camaro ZL1 Specs Released

New info has come out on the 2012 Camaro ZL1 that has me really excited.  The most powerful production Camaro will come with a 580HP/556TQ version of the LSA supercharged V8 found in the Cadillac CTS-V and will be available with either a strengthened Tremec T6060 6 speed manual or a modified 6L90 6 speed automatic transmission.

The suspension will feature the newest version of GM's magnetic shock absorbers that can make adjustments up to 1,000 times per second.  The new system is faster and more advanced than the one found on the CTS-V, Corvette ZR1 and the Ferrari 458 Italia.

The tires will be new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure which are said to be as close to race compound as you can get for the street.  Specially calibrated electric power steering will be employed and GM has reassured that it will provide proper feel.  The car will come completely track ready with all the necessary transmission, diff, and brake cooling systems from the factory.

Sounds like a recipe for a seriously quick car.  I love how Ford and Chevy are going punch for punch with the Camaro and Mustang right now.  The Camaro ZL1 should be enough to put the Shelby GT500 in it's place for the time being.  All that is left is for Chevy to come up with a new Z/28 to go up against the excellent Mustang Boss 302.
